Pear Art

I think of myself as an artsy-type that's been strewn from doing art for most of the past decade. Getting married and moving away really changed my world, and I just about dropped any and all of my partial talents, including painting. Not that I'm saying I'm great at painting, but saying that I enjoy it, and my simple pieces bring me joy - so why have I waited nearly 7 years to make some artwork for my own home? I don't have the answer to that question, but I do hope that I can continue to play around with painting to enhance my home.

The pear on the right was inspired by a plastic cup I got at Target (on clearance 75% off, btw). The pears on my cup look similar to this pear, and I wanted a pear companion, thus the green pear. I love green in my home.

What do you think of my pears? The 3 friends that have seen them have had really good reactions to them. That makes me happy. :)

Update on Master Cleanse

I did the cleanse for 3. 5 days, and then I was ready to eat good food. The first day was the only real hard day, as my body wanted coffee (with creamer, of course), chicken nuggets, anything that I could see. My body was a little out of control before the cleanse, and now I feel that it is better-controlled, since I broke my addiction to junk food. It was pretty bad.

Since I did this cleanse 4 years ago for 10 days, I really don't like the taste of the lemonade, even though it's a fairly-good-tasting drink. It's just fresh lemon (who doesn't like that?) and maple syrup (which is yum on pancakes to me). But together it's just icky to me now. I think I could just drink the lemon water easier.

So now that I am back to food, I have started on my husband's diet (which he just went off, btw). He did great on it - success! So I am going to finish up all the food he's got left over, and then probably either order more or continue on to Weight Watchers. I haven't decided yet.

I eagerly await the day when I am at a good weight. It's been 3 years since I've been there.

not sure

I was going to start The Master Cleanse today. I went and bought the expensive grade B maple syrup and lotsa lemons. I even brought my lemon press and a 2 quart pitcher over to my friend's house to squeeze lemons, but.........

....then I realized it was very inconvenient to press lemons at someone else's house when that person was busy already in the kitchen. I also realized that I did want a home-made iced mocha. I further realized that tomorrow I am doing a fast-food shop that involves tasting food.

And lastly, I realized that I am taking my hubby out for a Father's Day dinner on Sunday, and am I going to just sip on my very own lemonade while my family eats around me?

Hmmm. How am I gonna do this cleanse?

One thing is for sure, and that is I will do it. Soon.

Little Sis, Big Sis

Inspired by a simple flower graphic on my baby's onesy, I've made these two flower barrettes for my daughters. As you can see, one is the little sis and the other is the big sis. They are not perfected yet, although I kinda like the little sis one better, as it has more of a point to its leaves, almost like a stem. Thoughts?

Screen Door

Here she is, watching to glimpse her big sis riding by on her bike. (Yep the pants are too long - I rolled them up after this, honest!)

Four Now

When I met my friend Allison, we together had only one kid, my Madeleine. Now, with the arrival of this precious baby boy, we have four kids between us.

This photo is probably another of my all-time favorite pictures I've ever taken. Clara hadn't seen her buddy for a couple of months (because of vacation and then he was sick for a little while) and wasn't even crawling the last time she'd seen him, so those two were a bit taken with each other. To say the least.

Where did the time go? This is now my 10 1/2 - month old. She has mastered crawling, and is now pulling up everywhere. Her favorite word is up, which she says all the time. Can't believe she'll be having a birthday so soon.
